The Workstation drop-side body system is available with “Grab crane” options to suit the gross vehicle weight selected.

Our partner on Grab crane projects will usually be Hiab, however on occasion we will install HMF and Terex.

The same principals regarding crane installations on larger trucks apply to their smaller cousins as well, but with weight being critical, especially at 7.5 tonnes gross. As a consequence we are careful to achieve the right balance between weight and strength.

Hydraulic installations are of high quality with bent axis pumps being a must.

Completed installations are thoroughly checked, tested and certified on completion.

Workstation bodies are specifically modified for grab applications to minimise floor height. By their very nature drop-side grabs must be flexible, manual handling will still be a part of everyday life. At Abba we are always striving to produce the most user friendly product possible.

7.5 Tonne chassis will normally accommodate a five to six Metre/Tonne crane, with a 250 Litre clamshell. Controls are usually at ground level, although we do supply remote control cranes for some operators. Various quick release systems are available in order to convert cranes to hook duty if required.

For particular customers and projects, we can install grab cranes of a suitable size to ten, twelve and fourteen tonne GVW chassis, however eighteen tonnes is the most popular chassis selection. Here we will usually install eight to ten Metre/Tonne cranes with 500 Litre clamshell buckets.

For builder merchants we will often offer aluminium drop-side panels as weight can be very critical, for civil engineers, stowage’s are much more important. Trench rammers, road saw racks, and security lockers are more the order of the day.
